On their way to start a new life at a sheep farm in rural Virginia, the Turner family are halted by a wreck on the highway that has claimed the life of a truck driver. Spotting the trucker's now-abandoned collie on the side of the road, they take pity on the dog and adopt her. As the city family copes with the change to rural life, including a feud with a neighboring farm family who resent the city interlopers, the ever-loyal Lassie helps them adjust to their new surroundings.

Blu B It's gorgous to look at in lots of shots and growing up with it, it has lots of heavy nostalgia. But it's got lots of issues. Outside of R.F. and Lassie, everyone else including Matt is just ok. The family is very stock and generic at times. The "villians" are just ok also. Really this is the biggest issue is the human characters aren't that interesting. The music is solid and easily the best thing. Although the 90's Grunge is very odd and out of place. lol Everything else is just ok. It feels like stuff just happens. Lassie always finds key plot points with no explanation really. But more than that, it's got a lot of stuff going on. Lassie doesn't really have a story and just moves the plot forward and is basically a god, the romance with Matt, family drama, the villains, adjusting to the new life, becoming farmers it never really all ties together THAT well. Although the ending climax is kind of good though. And this tugs very heavily on the heart strings and is very sentimental, but there isn't much substance. Probably the reason I liked it so much as a kid. It's perfectly harmless and a standard 90's family film that isn't broken. If ya grew up with it or are a big fan of Lassie, give it a try. But most could skip this. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/06/24 Full Review StephenPaul C The greatest 01 hour: and 32 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review bill t Maybe the best Lassie film out there, but there wasn't THAT much competirion. This time Lassie is found by the side of the road after a sheep truck accident and is adopted by a family who just moved from the big city. The family is having a hard go at country life, but Lassie helps them overcome that. Lots of little interesting, but maybe stereotypical things happen, but you still get sucked into it anyways.
